Lotte haar artistiek werk beweegt zich richting een mix tussen narratief, abstract en figuratief. Een experimenteel, gewaagd kleurenpalet en energieke schriftuur spelen een centrale rol. In haar werk tracht Lotte met beeldmanipulatie als vertrekpunt een sterke analytische samenvoeging te vinden. Chaos wordt niet ingezet als gebrek aan orde, maar vormt het uitgangspunt voor een nieuwe compositie en betekenislaag. In deze bevreemdende wereld botsen energie, kwetsbaarheid en confrontatie met elkaar. Dieren worden geregeld ingezet als metaforen of als alternatieve dragers van menselijke emoties, herinneringen, dromen. Daardoor lijken ze zich te vertalen naar mythische figuren of maatschappelijke scènes. Geen enkele drager of medium gaat Lotte daarmee uit de weg, maar er gaat een duidelijke voorkeur naar olie op doek. Zo ontstaat er een nieuwe realiteit met af en toe satire als knipoog.
Naast schilderkunst houdt Lotte zich bezig met illustratief werk en is ze schrijfster. Vanaf 2024 vatte ze de koe bij de horens en startte ze met haar debuut “TE(SAMEN)”: een filosofische graphic novel over eenzaamheid. Kinderen en volwassenen kunnen (onder begeleiding) reflecteren over gevoelens aan de hand van deze striproman. Lotte houdt niet enkel van ontspanning tijdens het lezen, maar ook van een leerrijke ondertoon. Nadien kwam Lotte's eerste kinder(voorlees)boek “Prinsessen van het Noorden” in de vorm van een modern, licht feministisch sprookje. Alle illustraties zijn met de hand gemaakt, wat haar authentieke stijl typeert. Ook daarin blijkt lijn en veelkleurigheid belangrijk. Daarom geniet ze verder een duidelijke voorkeur voor artistiek ontwerp, zoals toneelposters en boek covers.
Lotte’s artistic work moves towards a blend of narrative, abstract and figurative elements. An experimental, daring colour palette and energetic scripture play a central role. In her work, Lotte attempts to find a strong analytical synthesis, using image manipulation as a starting point. Chaos is not used as a lack of order, but forms the starting point for a new composition and layer of meaning. In this strange world, energy, vulnerability and confrontation collide. Animals are regularly used as metaphors or as alternative carriers of human emotions, memories and dreams. As a result, they seem to translate into mythical figures or social scenes. Lotte does not shy away from any medium, but she has a clear preference for oil on canvas. This creates a new reality with occasional hints of satire.
As well as painting, Lotte works as an illustrator and is a writer. In 2024, she took the bull by the horns and launched her debut work, “TE(SAMEN)”: a philosophical graphic novel about loneliness. Children and adults can (with guidance) reflect on their feelings through this graphic novel. Lotte not only enjoys the relaxation that comes with reading, but also appreciates an educational undertone. This was followed by Lotte’s first children’s (read-aloud) book, “Prinsessen van het Noorden”, a modern, slightly feminist fairy tale. All the illustrations are hand-drawn, which characterises her authentic style. Linework and colourfulness are also key elements in this work. That is why she has a clear preference for artistic design, such as theatre posters and book covers.
